Scaling a Team of 34 Engineers in Four Months
A technology-first online social games company with over 1,000 employees needed to move beyond a legacy platform and establish a European presence. RITE NRG built a culturally aligned dedicated team and a new R&D center in Krakow, and delivered a greenfield platform designed to host 30 to 50+ brands.

Starting situation
The client's ten-year-old platform, with 70TB databases pushing the limits of AWS, could host only a handful of brands against an ambition of 30 to 50+. Headquarters in Perth and a large North American customer base created a punishing time zone gap, and specialized tech talent was scarce locally. Standing up a new structure in Poland carried the risk of an inefficient team and lost time, and the new entity had to inherit the client's culture, nomenclature, performance expectations and delivery processes.
What we advised
We implemented a Build, Operate, Transfer model rather than simple staff augmentation, taking the lead on the Polish talent market through a joint recruitment division with the client and hiring feature-responsible engineers able to work across backend and frontend, in line with the client's technical philosophy.
What we built or changed
We set up a state-of-the-art physical office in Krakow as the client's new European R&D center and acted as a full shared service provider: business travel, procurement and configuration of high-performance Macs through Apple Business Manager, payroll, HR, a competitive local benefits system, employee wellbeing and engagement, and all legal matters. In parallel the team delivered a greenfield platform to serve as the central hub for all of the client's games, with an admin backoffice for content managers, integration with external game studios and per-brand performance statistics.
Architecture, data and integration
AWS as the core infrastructure, with AWS architects engaged directly to extend limits toward millions of transactions per second (for example 14,000 transactions per second per brand for a single spin action). The system was architected on Domain-Driven Design principles for a modular architecture able to grow horizontally with the client's user base.
Engagement and commercial model
Build, Operate, Transfer: a dedicated team plus a fully operated R&D center designed to be handed to the client.
The #riteway in action
Cultural integration was treated as a deliverable. Onboarding was designed around the client's methods, a 24/7 on-call system supported critical platforms, performance was monitored continuously, and quarterly in-person synchronization meetings in Krakow brought 40 to 50 people together across the two organizations.
Delivery timeline
34 engineers hired, onboarded and delivering within four months.
Handover and ongoing operation
The client gained an owned European delivery hub with its own culture, career paths and operating model, ready for eventual transfer, alongside a scalable platform for continued brand expansion.
