Starting situation
EcoMS is a leading Polish business advisory firm of roughly 50 specialists covering management, quality standards, environmental protection, work safety, machine safety, food production standards and fire safety. Audit preparation and finalization were heavily manual, costing auditors several days of work in total. Their proprietary database of legal requirements, the foundation of their compliance services, was legacy and approaching end of life, threatening business continuity. Auditors needed to work on site in factories and warehouses where connectivity is unstable or absent. Clients could not access results online or track compliance status, and as a non-technical company EcoMS needed a partner who understood the compliance domain and could own the full software lifecycle.
What we advised
We advised a Progressive Web App rather than native mobile, so auditors could work fully offline on tablets without the cost and overhead of separate app builds, and recommended opening audit results to clients as a new commercial channel rather than treating the platform purely as an internal tool.
What we built or changed
The platform automates the selection of legal requirements from the auditor's input and, for existing clients, previous audit history and comments, producing a contextualized requirement list instead of manual selection. Full offline capability lets auditors record findings and take photos on site, syncing on reconnection. Embedded image capture attaches photos directly to findings. A secure client portal shows audit results, an overall compliance index, comments and confirmation that deficiencies have been corrected, which turned into a new sales channel as clients with low compliance scores proactively request remedial services.
Architecture, data and integration
Cloud-native on Microsoft Azure: React and PWA on the front end, .NET Core with Entity Framework on the back end, Azure WebApp, Azure SQL and Azure Blob Storage, with Terraform managing infrastructure as code.
Engagement and commercial model
Full lifecycle partnership from business analysis and wireframing through development, deployment and ongoing support, run in SCRUM with two-week sprints and regular demos, with EcoMS legal experts acting as product owners.
