Event Management Tool
Rite NRG conducted a full technical analysis and created a detailed project roadmap, overcoming a major unexpected challenge along the way
A Swedish company offering comprehensive marketing services and software, with solutions for:
- Marketing automation
- Ecommerce
- Lead generation
- Market segmentation
- Email marketing
Project challenges
The client needed to develop a comprehensive module for their platform. They had an in-house development team, but capacity was limited. They needed additional resource from an experienced technology partner to take this project forward.
The module was a tool for booking various types of events, requiring a specific set of technical skills. Because the tool would only be used for a limited period of time, it made sense to hire externally rather than in-house. Our competencies perfectly matched their needs.
Like Rite NRG, this client’s development team was based in Poland. That made for smooth and easy communication – though English was often our working language and collaboration was almost entirely remote.
Solutions and Technologies
1.Careful technical analysis
We began with a careful analysis of the risks and opportunities. It became apparent that our client had a high-level idea in mind, but hadn’t fully analysed its technical requirements.
To define those requirements, we assessed the client’s business need by interviewing teams and managers across several departments. This gave us the full picture we needed to create a detailed project roadmap, split into 5 stages.
Technologies applied:
- Team members: 4
- Months: 6 month
- Technologies: Angular, Node.js
- Methodology: SCRUM
- Tools: Jira, Slack, Google Meet
2. Mapping our approach with a hybrid team, onboarded in weeks
We then moved on to create a module skeleton, verifying the feasibility of integrations with other elements of the client’s platform.
We built a hybrid project team comprising a Business Analyst, Project Coordinator and three experienced developers on our side, and several more developers and a Delivery Manager on the client’s side.
As with all Rite NRG assignments, the client had the opportunity to get to know each team member and confirm their qualifications before hiring – ensuring the right cultural fit.
3. Reacting with agility to unforeseen challenges
The hybrid team completed the first stage in just 3 months. But then the unexpected happened. Our client was acquired by another company. The new parent company already had a similar solution, ready to go.
We needed to adapt. We were agile, transferring our resources to develop another model of the client platform. We onboarded the new project in just 1 week.
After 6 months of development, we had built all the functionality required and reduced the technical debt. The new module was ready for stable release.
We also gave the client a number of tips and best practices to improve the efficiency of their internal team and showed them how to achieve better results in a shorter time.
Results
This project proved our ability to give clients the added capacity they need, providing extensive technical analysis and delivering at pace.
Our client could now create new functionality much more quickly, reducing their time to market. They were delighted with the results.
